This novella is a spinoff from Lucy McConnell's The Athletic Groom, and the first book in the Dating Mr. Baseball series. It can be read independently. I am already squealing inside that there will be more books about the baseball players on the Redrocks team.Delay of Game is about relief pitcher Blake Rhys and physical therapist Elise Smith. Elise has just started working for the Saint George Redrocks and is thrilled to have her dream job with an MLB team. She is warned immediately that there is a no dating rule with the players because the last PT caused some problems. She thinks the rule will be no big deal until she meets Blake. She is drawn to him, and he seems to be feeling the same thing. Can she risk her dream job for a shot at love?
I loved Blake and Elise's romance! Even with the odds or rules stacked against them, Blake found ways to insert himself into Elise's life. I love that he didn't give up, but still took her employment seriously.
These books just come to life. I feel like I am getting an insiders glance at Major League Baseball, and I love it. I can't wait to see more of this team!

I loved this story! From the first story I thought Blake was a womanizer, but he is a really sweet guy. Loved Elise and Blake together. Such a great prequel to "The Athletic Groom" which I loved also.
I love it when it's obvious a writer knows the setting so intricately. I'm not a baseball fan, but I still loved being in that world with these characters. Fans of Lucy McConnell will not be disappointed with this one.
Fun romance with the newest physical therapist of a baseball team and one of the relief pitchers. It works great as the companion to The Athletic Groom, but is a great introduction to what promises to be a fun new series written by McConnell.
I loved The Athletic Groom, so I was super excited for this awesome companion novella. It was even better than I hoped. Sweet, funny, lots of genuine interactions between the characters so you can feel that they like each other for more than just the kissing. Well done, Lucy!
Thank you for doing this story! I wondered what happened to them. It was so fun to read their side of the story after Athletic Groom. I love how you told their side of the story that overlapped the Athletic Groom but you didn't just copy scenes and put them in this story. I really enjoyed this story. I'm not a fan of baseball but I didn't feel that it was pushed on the reader, just part of the story. Great read!
Wonderful companion to "The Athletic Groom." Really enjoyed the expanded side story of Blake and Elise and their growing relationship. This novella is character driven but beautifully romantic -- no gratuitous filler necessary. I'm looking forward to this fun new series. I love southern Utah -- it's fun to be able to picture the town and beautiful scenery. Maybe someday MLB will really come to St. George. -).
Another amazing story in the BMB universe. Having just re-read The Athletic Groom, it was a lot of fun getting the full story of Elsie and Blake.
I love this series. I keep hoping for many more. But this little sideline was really great too. It was interesting seeing some of the things that happened in the other book expanded, or seen a different way. Each book stands alone, but together, they're even better.
